Designs With Depth
This was from our census pro bono earlier in May 2024. Uganda’s population density map built using python GeoPandas library with data from Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) and spatial data & rasters from Humanitarian Data Exchange. This is what 46 million people look like on 241,038 km² and may well be the most detailed Uganda population density map you’ll ever find on the internet. The magma styling inspiration was from PythonMaps on X (formerly Twitter), and we are quite proud of how it turned out. On 27th June 2024, UBOS announced the findings from the 2024 census and the big figure wasn’t far off from the projections coming from 2014. Because this was the first digital census coupled with GPS data, the spatial data will be unprecedented. Our next population density map will be quite the spectacle.
